In fact, the ads were so popular they even attracted the attention of famed director Shekhar Kapur. Entranced by Preity's presence, Kapur decided to cast her as the lead in his next film, Tara Rum Pum Pum. Although the movie never got made, Kapur's interest in Preity created a buzz throughout the industry and she soon made her acting debut in 1998's Dil Se.
